Ultra Logistics Announces Version 3.5 of UltraShipTMS™

New developments in UltraShipTMS™ enhance shippers’ flexibility with new fuel surcharge tables and tendering rules, among other upgrades

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (Nov. 15, 2007)—Ultra Logistics, a leader in truckload carrier management, domestic logistics execution and a licensed reseller of Transportation Management Solutions, Inc., UltraShipTMS™ software, announced today the successful launch of their newest version of software. UltraShipTMS™ Version 3.5 gives greater flexibility to shippers managing their supply chains.

Ultra Logistics enhanced UltraShipTMS™ tendering rules to allow shippers more flexibility when tendering freight by percentage of volume, customer or location. This showcases the software’s ability to be customized to meet individual shipper’s unique needs, as well as addresses intricacies in their transportation network.

“We also created new ease of use features for shippers by implementing turn-by-turn driving directions and visual load board displays to show load activity and coverage in real time,” said Joe Librizzi, vice president of sales of Ultra Logistics. “While these changes seem small, the overall impact is significant. These changes reduce time on the phone giving directions, as well as reduce time querying the system for status updates,” continued Librizzi.

The system now manages fuel surcharge by carrier, region and mode of transportation, or any combination of these three. This helps isolate fuel costs and gives shippers a more precise tool for managing fuel as cost continue to rise.

UltraShipTMS™ Version 4.0 will launched in January 2008. The upgraded features in Version 4.0 will help shippers create efficiencies and savings with their core carriers by providing necessary information to understand each other’s business. The new upgrades will allow non-core carriers to be managed by a third party, thus allowing shippers to focus on the relationships that add value to their supply chain. “In the past we have seen shippers create savings by reducing their carrier base, so our upgrades will allow them to do this without losing the capacity provided by smaller specialized and niche fleets. This will prove to be a real value in a market where companies are looking to reduce costs and still maintain high service levels,” said Librizzi.

UltraShipTMS™ gives logistics managers the ability to completely manage inbound transportation, outbound transportation, or both, with complete visibility, ensuring proper coordination, optimal planning and consistent execution. UltraShip’s transaction-based web software delivery model offers customers a powerful solution with low-risk, low-cost implementation and rapid deployment anywhere in the world.

Ultra Logistics is a SmartWay Partner

Ultra Logistics is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with the SmartWay® Transport Partnership to help increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

Did you know that truck and rail transport consumes over 35 billion gallons of diesel fuel annually in the United States? This creates over 350 million metric tons of carbon dioxide each year in addition to producing nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. While the burning of fuel is necessary, a portion of that fuel is wasted due to inefficient practices.

Launched in February 2004, the SmartWay® Transport Partnership is a voluntary collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and freight shippers, carriers, and logistics companies to reduce the amount of emissions generated yearly. By 2012, this initiative aims to reduce between 33-66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide emissions annually.

Ultra Logistics—taking the lead from large companies like Wal-mart—is doing its part by encouraging the carriers that we do business with to integrate cost saving, fuel efficient technology and strategies into their fleets. This includes cutting down on unnecessary idling, improving aerodynamics, reducing highway speed, and driver training.
For more information on the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, please visit www.epa.gov/smartway/index.htm.

Ultra Logistics to provide Intermodal services

We are happy to announce that early in 2007 we have finalized arrangements with several national intermodal carrier providers that will enhance the intermodal services that we are offering.

As fuel costs rise, capacity and truck driver shortages increase, and equipment costs climb, more and more shippers are looking at ways to save money. One way they are doing this is by partnering with third-party logistics companies to provide rail intermodal transportation services as an alternative.

According to the “U.S. Freight Transportation Forecast to 2016” rail intermodal revenue is expected to rise to $19 billion by 2016 compared with $8.6 billion in 2004.

At Ultra Logistics, we know that the surge in popularity of rail intermodal, and the benefits it provides, may have you wondering how you can take advantage of this cost-saving shipping solution.

Ask us about how we can assist you. Visit our website at www.ultralogistics.com.

Overflow Manager is now Private Carrier Network

To better align its name with its functionality and to enhance capabilities, Ultra Logistics announces that Overflow Manager has been renamed Private Carrier Network.

Built on the same platform as our UltraShip TMS, Private Carrier Network can be used as an add-on to an existing TMS, or easily upgraded to UltraShip TMS.

By upgrading Overflow Manager to Private Carrier Network, features that were previously only available to UltraShip users are now offered. These features include:

  • Appointment scheduling
  • Tender timeouts
  • Pick up and delivery confirmations
  • More robust reporting

Private Carrier Network was developed by Ultra Logistics as a web-based, mass load tendering tool that allows shippers to send instant notification of their needs to their core carriers in a matter of minutes. Carriers are simultaneously notified of shippers’ needs via an email message that prompts them to log in where they can submit competitive bids on the loads they can cover. All shippers have to do is view the bids as they come in and make their carrier selection using the best combination of rate and availability.

For more information on Private Carrier Network, please contact Russ Bowen at 888-220-4640 x2018, or via email by clicking here.

"Frequent Lanes" Feature Available to Carriers

As a carrier, are there lanes that you would prefer to move freight in? Based on carrier feedback, Ultra Logistics decided to use this information and—in an effort to provide enhanced services to our carriers—develop a system to regularly monitor and provide information on our most frequent lanes. With that in mind, we created our “Frequent Lanes” feature.

By logging into the “Frequent Lanes” feature of the GoUltra.com website, registered carriers can sign up for email alerts that will notify them when a new load is available in a lane that interests them. Sound simple? It is. We are certain that it will bring efficiency and ease to another level for our carriers.  Even if a carrier is not registered, they can still go to the website and sign up within minutes.  Click here to be redirected to our registration page.

The “Frequent Lanes” feature is easy to navigate. Once logged in, carriers can click on the Loads link and then the Frequent Lanes link. When they find a lane they are interested in they can select it by clicking the Add link. Afterwards, they will get an email notification any time loads become available in the lanes they have chosen.

Click here to be redirected to our “Frequent Lanes” page.

Ultra Logistics Introduces "Available Equipment" Feature

Ultra Logistics recognizes the fact that—because of the many criteria involved—matching carriers to the right loads is vital. We noticed that allowing carriers to search for loads based on where their available equipment is would be a valuable tool. With that in mind, we wanted to provide our carriers with a method of being notified whenever there were loads available of particular interest to them.

The new “Available Equipment” feature of the GoUltra.com website makes this possible. It will alert carriers when there are available loads that match their available equipment. Registered carriers can set up their available equipment profile through their goultra.com accounts. Once set up, carriers will receive email alerts every time a load becomes available that matches their listed equipment. Even if a carrier is not registered, they can still go to the website and sign up within minutes. Click here to be redirected to our registration page.

Once you are logged in, just click on the Load Matching link towards the top of the page. Here carriers can fill in the information for any equipment they would like to receive notifications for. Once all the equipment is set up, our system will take care of the rest. Carriers will get an email notification any time loads become available for the equipment they have registered.

Click here to be redirected to our “Load Matching” page.
