Director of Transportation

Summary

• Lead, direct and manage operational staff to ensure maximum profitability of services
• Establish and maintain positive, productive customer and vendor relations while managing daily resolution of issues
• Proactively identify trends, process improvements and customer needs and propose and implement solutions
• Plan and monitor daily staffing schedules and adjusts accordingly to ensure adequate staffing that support operational demands and business objectives.
• Provide development and training for staff and encourage continuous learning and performance improvement
• Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (Master's degree a plus) in a relevant area with equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related area
• 5+ years experience in the transportation industry
• 3-5 years supervisory or managerial experience
• Ability to identify issues, requirements, and opportunities involved in customer service
• Experience in managing external service providers (truckload, intermodal, line haul)
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills at a management level, including performance feedback, employee development, coaching and counseling skills
