Executive Biographies

Nicholas Carretta, President

Nicholas Carretta

Mr. Carretta has been in transportation and supply chain management for 15 years and is currently serving as President of Ultra Logistics. He is also a current member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). Prior to becoming President, Mr. Carretta served as Vice President of the company from 2007 - 2009 leading the Sales, Marketing and Information Technology teams.

His vocation started with Carretta Trucking, a long time leader in asset based transportation services and innovations. Nicholas was also the former President and Owner of Alliant Internet Solutions, a web based software consulting company. Alliant specialized in servicing mid-sized company's technology needs by providing web based applications.

Nicholas began his career with Ultra Logistics in 1996 directing the Information Technology team towards building the company's leading hosted TMS solution.

Nicholas graduated from Bryant University with a BA in Finance.

Joe Librizzi, Senior Vice President of Sales

Joe Librizzi

With over 40 years experience in the LTL and TL business, Joseph has a wealth of expertise and knowledge in supply chain management. He began his career in transportation in 1970 with Interstate Motor Freight System where he ultimately became Vice President of Sales for the eastern region.

Joseph's former experience also includes his tenure as President of a LTL and TL Carrier and Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Jevic Transportation. Mr. Librizzi has demonstrated success in his former roles through sales management & systems improvement, including pricing & yield management. His leadership and guidance have resulted in additional business expansion for all companies he has served.

Joseph graduated from Rider University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Peter Madia, Executive Vice President

Peter Madia

Pete Madia is a forty year veteran transportation industry executive with an expansive understanding of the industry and unmatched depth of subject matter expertise. Mr. Madia is responsible for overseeing the operation of Ultra Logistics, a role he performs in a very hands-on capacity.

Pete has extensive history with the Ultra organization, beginning his association with the Carretta family – Ultra’s ownership – in 1975 when he accepted a position on the loading docks. Between 1975 and 1996, Mr. Madia ascended through the ranks of the organization, quickly moving into operations as a “Team Dispatcher” running 900 trucks, coast to coast, then into Vice President of Fleet Administration where he was responsible for purchasing, tax and licensing, recruiting, safety and maintenance for over a thousand tractors in a temperature-controlled fleet.

In 1997 when Carretta Trucking transitioned from being an asset-based carrier to a non-asset based transportation provider, Pete moved into a leading role in Operations for the new Ultra Logistics organization where he remains today.

Peter Madia holds a BA from Bergen Community College and is a well-regarded expert in transportation and supply chain management.

David Dzuira, Director of Pricing (Transportation)

David Dzuira

David Dzuira is the Director of Pricing for Ultra Logistics, responsible for the pricing and associated profitability for all shipment activity which includes performance of profitability reporting, rate analysis, bid management, RFP management, spot pricing and contract rate management.

Mr. Dziura has been with the organization for four years beginning his career with Ultra in the capacity of Business Development Manager before being promoted to his current position.

David brings more than thirty years of transportation management experience to the job having worked with numerous, notable transportation industry organizations in a wide range of capacities including Procurement Manager at Penske Logistics/Pepsi Bottling; Director of Pricing with Alliance Shippers; Corporate Transportation Manager with Mott’s Inc.; Operations Manager with Ryder Logistics; and Regional Transportation Manager for Nestle Foods.

Richard Catania, Business Development Manager

Richard Catania

Richard Catania recently joined Ultra Logistics bringing more than four decades of food shipping and transportation experience to the position of Business Development Manager. Richard began as a loading dock worker in 1970 for National Biscuit Company (the forerunner of Nabisco/Kraft and ultimately Mondelēz). Richard rose through the ranks becoming District Warehouse Manager, honing his expertise in warehouse operations.

In 1991, Mr. Catania moved to Nabisco headquarters and a new position as District Operations Manager in charge of direct store delivery where he was quickly promoted, assuming control of capital strategy for all Nabisco distribution operations in the United States.

When Nabisco was acquired by Kraft Foods in 2001, Richard transitioned into the role of Senior Manager of Operations Distribution. This role put Richard in charge of operations and distribution strategy for all of the US and Canada.
